Sexual Abuse

A very hard topic to talk about, most people hide this deep down inside them. Afraid of judgement, embarrassment or bullying. They choose to ignore the fact that something this horrible has happened to them.

1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys is a victim of child sexual abuse;

Self-report studies show that 20% of adult females and 5-10% of adult males recall a childhood sexual assault or sexual abuse incident;

During a one-year period in the U.S., 16% of youth ages 14 to 17 had been sexually victimized;

Over the course of their lifetime, 28% of U.S. youth ages 14 to 17 had been sexually victimized;

Children are most vulnerable to CSA between the ages of 7 and 13.

That’s just what was reported. There is no way to determine the actual numbers because of the shame it gives the victims. A child who is the victim of prolonged sexual abuse usually develops low self-esteem, a feeling of worthlessness and an abnormal or distorted view of sex. The child may become withdrawn and mistrustful of adults, and can become suicidal.

Children who do not live with both parents as well as children living in homes marked by parental discord, divorce, or domestic violence, have a higher risk of being sexually abused.

MEDITATION PRACTICE

For those of you that have never done it. It’s really easy and anyone can do it. You simply lay down, put on meditating music, close your eyes and follow the instructions. Most start off by asking you to take deep breathes very slowly. Then allow the music to place you in a trance. A zone you perhaps have never been to before.

Now once comfortable and music is playing in your ear. (I recommend headphones). I want you to envision the younger you. Around the age of 8.

I want you to envision seeing your younger self crying, upset, scared and alone. Now, go over to them. Pick them up, and give them the most loving hug possible. Feel your heart grow. And tell them that’s “it’s ok” “you don’t have to be alone anymore” . “I will protect you” .

As the younger you stops crying, you can now hold their hand. Play games with them. What was your favorite thing to do as a child?

Now lastly, I want you to envision the smaller you being healed.  To do this, envision the older you, placing your hand on the younger you’s head.

Feel the presence of a hand touching your forehead at this time. This is the power of god telling you everything will be okay. You are safe now.

This is a very powerful meditation. Do not be scared if you feel like your not in control or if you feel a hand touching your forehead. This is God and you will feel protected. Nothing can harm you.
